Art and Poetry in Domenica Pugliese.

Light, poetry and an hymn to the life are the first sensations that you feel in front of the paintings by Domenica Pugliese. A gay, joyous feeling, which lids some metaphors as symbols. She doesn't lied them all though, because in the artist there is a certain sincerity, probably it is how she is naturally, which manifests in her colourful paintings. And then it all comes forward into a fairy tale. There is a painting in which there are pots and pans of every form, colour and dimension: there is almost a gnome living under every lid. And in the numerous houses grouped together, with houses running one after another. That makes you think there a thousand eyes,and a thousand hearts beating. Assembled in one painting you see places desperate and long away, there is a great love for the world and the humanity. And in the painting donated to a young friend, there is a variety of symbols, which takes you to a dream in reality. Places of thinking, places of memory, places of fancy. All of this is expressed in the warm generosity of the artist. Almost a good fairy that touches everything with her magic wand. Like with her magic brush, her colours and her brilliant fancy.

A peculiarity joining a large part of these paintings consists in the concourse of the same figures: for instance birds (pelicans and parrots), pots, jugs, fishes, aircraft; the same figure undergoes a reproduction by some variants in shape and drawing: but the strangest element of diversity consists either in the different size of the multiplied objects, usually based on an evident perspektive principle, or in the colour, almost always lively, which produces chromatc differences between the repeated objects: it is a question of simple colours (yellow, red, blue) which do not give rise to shades. " These formal elements turn into hallucinated and surrealist outlooks; as a matter oh fact, assuming elements of which everybody could been inspired to a realistic poetic ( a pot, an aircraft etc.) but multiplying and diversifying them by unreal colours, the painter reaches a surrealistic or metaphysical result. Perhaps,  the most suitable cultural reference-print is Ensor, with his surreal or metaphysical visions absorbed into an exultation of sprightly colours.
